That is my era. The late 30's through the early '50's. These theaters were a visual escape from the ordinary life. They were built in the late '20's and survived to be a center point in my life. During WWII every thing was rationed, except attendance at the movies, plus everyone had a job in the defense effort, so there was money to go to the movies more than once a week. Kids fare was 9cents and adults about 35cents and those good blue collar jobs paid from 75 cents/hr for laborers to $1,25/hr for skilled welders and burners.

It is sad to see this. What was once shiny and new now appears to be run down having seen better days. Well captured.
